wooh!!!beginner here...i think this group having little experiance should prob play covers of songs, first we need all the beginners, and then we make bands. should it be person vs. person or band vs band(u know since we dont have drums, and some of us dont have good vocals, me...) also it should prob be a round robin, unfair if a band doesnt compare with another. also, the beginners/intermediate should judge the advanced, and the advanced should judge the beginer/intermediate, dont be modest about ur skill lvl btw.

lol im guessing ur intermediate. i think there should be a diff section for intermediate, but i guess it could go by if ur somewhere leaning towards the beginner side of intermediate, or the advanced side of intermediate, dont be modest.

pnce everyone or almost everyone chooses a group, we can start...if u wana play in this, just join either this or the othr topic on this. soy: should we play covers, or make our own songs, bear in mind us beginners cant think up music like u guys can.

I think you all should start with covers first, to get a feel of how it's like, then work on writing when you are more comfortable.

Also, how will the tryouts work? Will it be everyone playing the same song, and the judges vote who does it best?

I don't think I can get in on this because I have no way to record. I guess I'll be a judge.

Same here LP, I can patch to my computer... but it's staticy as hell and doesn't work. Maybe when I save up some cash to buy a mic... but in this economy that could be awile.

*Pokes* that's what I do to attempt to record... I get a massive amount of static when attempting that.

i think we need to divide everyone up by genre as well. thats probably the most important thing. if i dont feel something i wont be able to play it. so someone should create a "metal" post , a"blues"/rock'psychedelic etc.

Sorry guys, had college and played a gig last night and had college and had a practice both the days before, so that's why I've been posting less. Got quite a bit of college work to do aswell, so I might only be on a little over the next week.

I think I'll sit out, as I said, got a lot to do at the moment. Good luck with it though - looking forward to hearing the result.

I have line six toneport which works great. Then I download a copy of CubaseSX. I can record and add alot of effects and such. If anyone is looking to record guitar, bass or mic Id highly suggest this. This is a cool Idea but I really think you would need drums in order to get a real band sound.

Just use a drum machine. If you don't wanna pay for one, we can just download the Hammerhead Rhythm Station (download the "Acoustic #2", "Acoustic #3", and "Cymbals" userbanks/extension for it).

Most of us probably do Skold so whoopdy fucking do to you...

Drumming wise, it probably would be easier to use a drum machine but if its really wanted I could borrow my bands Rhythem guitarists drums for a bit? But the recording would suck -.-

time to get organized! you guys need to pick some judges (use the polling function). then the judges can make some decisions to get things on the right track so everyone knows what is expected.
a thought....i've been using audacity for a long time now and i just downloaded the latest version. i like the new features a lot! it's a free program so everyone can get it and it allows for adding tracks on the fly. so files can be sent from one member to another and a new track can be added, saved and sent to the next guy. it might be the easiest way to pass a song from member to member as the song gets "built". "just a thought from the latter day saint"
