Anyone want to take a stab at this chord?

e|-8
b|-7
g|-6
d|-5
a|--
e|--

It's a minor 2nd then a perfect 4th then another minor 2nd.
John McLaughlin is the only person I've ever seen use it
(which could be the problem). I really enjoy using it, I'm just not sure how to analyze it so can just tell people what it is without having to describe it in detail. Any ideas?

Yeah, by itself it's pretty dissonant, but after experimenting with it a while I was able to include it in some interesting voicings. It seems to work well leading into similar chords.

Like Odd Chord - G# Augemented 7 - A Minor 6

E|-7-4-5-|
b|-6-5-5-|
g|-5-5-5-|
d|-4-4-4-|

I definitely tabbed it out right ;). There are a lot of ugly chords that sound better in a good sequence.

Like the sequence above functions more like:

|-7-4-5-|
|-6-5-5-|

Very true I have tried some butt ugly chords that only sound good in a certain sequence or progression. Actually i've benn trying to record this song with strange chords. As soon as I figure out Audacity I'll post it.
