Hey I thought i would throw this out there since the Battle of the Bands seems dead.

But would anyone be interested in having a weekly or bi-weekly backing track jam?

basically someone would pick a backing track and every one who wanted to participate would submit a recording of them soloing' or playing with it.

We could also get feed back on what was good what was crap, and what we could work on?

I dig it, we have to have some kind of rotation for who chooses the track though.

Yeah that would be a tough one. It seems like lots of people dig metal but i think it would a good to have a variety of different music types.

also there is no posting int the site so we would have to post on sound click or myspace and link back.

Haha, yeah. I can't shred, but nothing's stopping me from hitting some stinging sustained notes, or harmonizing two or three melodies. I'm sure a lot of people here don't play funk or jazz, but look at Jeff Beck or some of these Jazz-Rock Fusion guys, they shred all over the place.

I was going to record over some ones track... But... I can't get a sound that I'm not disgusted at... I wrote the leads over it but. :/

I would love to do this though. If only I could get a nice sound out of my amp...

I would say anything goes and there are not rules.

Anything your playing is game. I think the ultimate goal here would
be to showcase your skills and get feed back from other people about
the good, the bad, and the ugly, what works and what doesn't.

below are rules I would have...

1. It must be your playing and not a buddys!

2. You must be open to feedback and not take anything personal

3. Constructive criticism, give feedback in a positive manner. No
being a dick, if you don't like something say so but don't go on and
one about it was the worst thing youv'e ever herd......

Any one else have any ideas?

i have an idea! how about we use:

1. destructive criticism, give extremley negative feedback, and if you like, or dislike something you HAVE to go on and on about it being the worst thing uve ever heard

2. i dont do anything but laugh at ur silly squables

jk... i had coke, so im kinda random hyper =D

So I guess there is some interest in this so I'll start it off.

There is this little site www.freshbt.com, I found a version of Knocking on Heavens Door. It's GNR's version. Do what ever you want!

http://www.freshbt.com/backing_track/download/Guns_N_Roses__Knockin_on_Heavens_Door.htm

It's an MP3 just plug into what ever program you want and record. Once your done, post on the internet and link back with URL.

Also, in the future, I'd say post the chord progression and/or the key along with it, just to save everyone else the trouble.

I think for this song it's G, D, and C all the way through, with an Am supplanting the C occasionally.

How about we do like 30 seconds on a song. So that way it's your playing and then another's and stuff. And each part is in the genre so that way the playing isn't extremely random...

Also, where can we host an mp3 to link back?

Any page that lets you upload music. Seems like a lot of people around here use PutFile, but you could use MySpace or PureVolume as well.

Hey Veqq, I'm not following you.

If you don't want to do the whole song that's fine. I know it has been good practice with this song.

as for hosting i think sound clips has a decent site with lots of hosting options. if nothing else i have 100 megs I'm not using on a web server we could always host it there. If you interested PM me
