Allright, I had to do this xD

Since ive noticed that here are many, many metal dudes and many, many dudes who like to put consept "hell" in their lyrics.

So my question is... Are you religious and do you believe god?
Because if you believe that hell or satan is real then you must believe in existence of god too...

mm, I have little different kind of way to what i believe, but whatever...

lol? :P

Guess it depends on what you mean by God. I mean, everyone has something that is their God.

Upon experience, I'm lead to believe that God and Satan do exist.

@GB

I don't think it has anything to do with you Religion. More about what YOU, as an individual, believes.

I'm not religious, as in, I wasn't baptized, and I don't go to church or pray or any of that. I do believe in God though.

But my friend told me something just yesterday that really interested me. She said that maybe instead of Heaven & Hell we get reincarnated and when we die our soul goes to a different body. "Good things happen to bad people" and "Bad things happen to good people" ... So even if you're a good person bad things can happen to you, and vice versa. So the people that kill themselves and are suicidal etc. should live their life, not for who they are then/now... but for who they will be in the next life... if there is one.

Nobody knows where we go for sure though, it sucks cause I'd like to know what to expect. But what she said was really interesting, in my opinion.

Sorry, I meant "@EMB". I always get you lot confused.

As far as I'm concerned, I hope that science is right and that God and such isn't real. Why? Because I'd probably go to hell if I died.

I won't say I'm %100 right, but I think I have a good idea.

dun worry skold... Why some ppls would go to hell if they born to place where they never heard of christians? oh well, but whatever.

Or howaboout if science and religions are half right both of them. If there are a "Force, that power is beyond human understanding" that created a say "Big bang" that causes evolution and such xD xD

Religious belief is just another measure of human arrogance. If you can be comfortable with the notion that you're all done and dusted once you're dead, and all 'processes' die with you, then you don't need religion.

I'm not religious.

However, I don't feel like I'm betraying myself if I make a reference to God, Hell, Angels, etc. Even though I don't believe in these as the christian faith would prefer, they still can be used to convey an idea.

@ empirism:-

I'm getting a bit concerned with the direction this thread's taking. You're not one of these 'rock evangelists' are you? Hell bent on making good Christians of us so we put down our guitars and pick up our tambourines to sing "hallelujah ! praise be to the Lord!!"
I think I could just about take that on the condition the next hymn is "Smoke on the water" otherwise, I'm out of here folks!

But one question;
What the Hell is Scientology?
Is it a religion? Or just something from Television that is not related to religion?

Scientology isn't Christian in any way.

Scientology is a religion, started by L. Ron Hubbard (not really sure when, but it's only recently come into the spotlight). The guy's pretty wacky, but he has made one good point, "Religion is where the money is".

Anyway, he used to write Sci-Fi novels, and eventually released a book called Dianetic, which was something of a self-help book. From this sprung Scientology.

The foundations of Scientology go something like this (here's my dumbed down version): There are a bunch of people on another planet, way off in space, but their planet has become over populated so their leader loads a bunch of people up and flies them to earth. He places all the ships around volcanoes and blows them up with H-bombs. The souls of these people then bind to the living here on Earth, and wreak havoc.

If you're part of the Church of Scientology, you have to go through a process where you go in and talk one-on-one with an upper level Scientologist about bad experiences (caused by these spirits). These sessions cost money, and the Church of Scientology claims that this is because it hasn't had centuries to build up a large account like the Catholic Church.

Also, the Church of Scientology is highly secretive. If your family is part of the Church, but one member leaves, you are to excommunicate that family member. There are also ranks, and most Scientologists don't even learn about the history of scientology until they reach the upper echelons of Scientology (i.e. they pay for lots of sessions).

L. Ron Hubbard is dead now, but brilliant as he is, the Church of Scientology believes otherwise. When he began to die, he retired to his ranch (also where all his celebrity endorsers such as Tom Cruise brush up on their Scientology), and was rumored to be working on a new book, because he had discovered some new level of Scientology. He died before he finished it, but the Church maintains that he had achieved the new level and left his body behind, wandering around as an astral projection.

Scientology even persuaded google to remove anti-scientology websites like operation clambake from it's database for a time. I think you can google it again now though. There was a big court battle over it.

In my opinion, Scientology is the bastard child of Religion and Capitalism. Sorry for the long post, but those are the basics, without all the fancy mumbo-jumbo like Thetans, Operating Thetans, Auditing, The Sea Organization, Gold base, etc.

I would consider myself an Agnostic. A lot of people would call that being a religion-pussy, but it's really not, at least in my opinion. If there is any sort of supreme being or what-have-you, how would we, as humans, be able to understand its omnipotence?

I don't know. I don't believe in a God, but I'm not saying I believe that there is no God. And, by the way, I was raised as a fairly strict Catholic. My parents have always bugged me with their explanation of wasting away a perfectly good life that is here and real in reward for one that is put on by some God that you "know is there" because he just "has to."

religion is a scam. no one group can get their story straight. Whoever came up with Jewdaism (and I come from a Jewish home mind you) must have been tripping on some awesome acid to come up with all that crazy talk. Islam is the same thing, they just believe God changed his mind along the way. And Christianity, is just straight bull shit; the damn religion was created 200 years after Jesus died!
The only Gods that exists are the Gods in each of us...they're called morals.

i kinda agree with guitarslinger, i feel like tht, but the jews are discriminated against, and were decreasing in #s, also i was expected to be bar mitzvahed, from a jewish neiborhood from what was an orthodox family (2 generations ago), we havent celebrated the sabbath in years. my dad is part of a group called the jelurselum foundation, he gives them money and goes to israel a lot, hes acctually raised from a baptist family, go 2 church every sunday and all tht, my dad doesnt belive in g-d, he said ther could be, and maybe thers not, u dont know. id like to belive in g-d but somtimes i just say ther cant be and somtimes i say ther has to be.

I am a believer in Jesus Christ and God. I do try to live life the way I think God wants me to live. not by naivety or fear, but because i simply DO believe in God, no real way to explain why I do, I think only he can draw a person near to him. i think there are lots of things in our existance that we just KNOW. it is the world we live in that demands proof, but let it be up to us as individuals to decide what is real and what isnt. if you think God isnt real, prove it to yourself, research it, go to church, open yourself just once and see what happens. either way, wouldnt you feel better knowing you found out for yourself? anyways....religion and music: as a musician i try not to connect music with anything. a song can be about whatever and ill only choose to like it due to its musical inclination. im not a satanic person, but if the song is satanic and it has music in it that heightens my musical emotion, your damn right ill listen to it.

Indeed it is tele.

"Beliefs are dangerous. Beliefs allow the mind to stop functioning. A non-functioning mind is clinically dead. Believe in nothing." I believe that is a quotation spoken by Maynard James Keenan of Tool. I wholeheartedly agree with him. In my opinion, to find any sort of god or higher being you must actually actively search. Delve into your mind, soul, whatever, just don't surrender your mind to what a very old book, written by people who were, in general, kind of crazy, tells you.

That last sentence may take a few times reading over to understand.

Yeah, religion is total bullshit. It isn't even important.

The only thing that matters is the relationship you have with God.

@EMB

I don't think it's wrong for someone to tell you about the Gospel, but I do think it's wrong to try and shove their religion/religious views down your throat.

My apologies for not checking my facts regarding Scientology, but I can't in all honesty take any kind of human religious or cult activity seriously. To me, the entire human race is just a growing cancerous mass that exists for the purpose of destroying it's host (which is what cancer does!). In nature, perfection does not exist. It's only the arrogance of humanity that a) entertains such a concept and b) believes itself to be at the top of the food chain.
Sorry if this causes offence to you religious folk, but we are all entitled to an opinion, not just you!

Hahhah! Sure I am! and If you look thread upwards..sure Ive tried to make you all good christians, even I made whole post in little hangover (thats what most good christians do atleast couple times a week..) I was just curious to what ppls belief if they sing of hell and such... anyway... you dont have to pick your tambourine m8 ;D

btw, in one festival (oh yes, it was rock festival xD) there was one of those dudes who came to talk of god, said to me that even gospel music if its made for metal or rock is satanic... so consept of rock evangelist... what is it`? just dudes who sing of heaven instead of hell... dammit.. everything needs an opposite i think.. ^_^.

But what it come to me, ive more likely head for light than dark, but in way of mind and for self perfection to feel good. Yea I know, alcohol and stuff dont help it, but what can do...

Haha, listen to some Sanctus Real, deefa. Only distorted guitars and cool basslines from those Christians.

Seriously, you should stop generalizing religious folks.

Also, I think you are right about the perfection thing. We are not perfect - God is.
