Do u find that more and more of todays youth are into that music, rap hip hop, techno, dance, electro, pop. its like deres no skill in pressing buttons 2 make ur computa music. sure u have 2 make notes and pitches flow BUT HEY dats same as rock but uve got 4-5 different instruments goin at once (including vox). i try and get my friends into rock and metal but like its hard we ned strategies, bring bak the days of rock and metal.(stands up majestically) we strive for the day wen distorted guitar rules the radio wen the radio presenter announces the name of not only metallica and priest but of led zeppelin and ac/dc as well. WEN HUGE SPEAKERS AND SUBWOOFERS ARE BELTING OUT GUT BUSTING DRUM SOLOS, FACE MELTING GUITAR SOLOS, HELL THROW IN SUM BASS AND VOX SOLOS AS WELL
INSTEAD OF THIS COMPUTA MUSIC SHIT

(soz for long intro but i felt special, like the scene in the movies wen the person makes the motivational speech afta his just been doubting himself)

Well, I actually like techno/hip-hop/rap, at least to some degree.

If you look beneath the surface of MTV/mainstream (c)rap, there is hip-hop that uses real instruments and the people talk about things that are actually important.

And as for what to do about it, just don't listen to it. People who like it will continue to listen to it, people who don't won't. You could show them some rock and see if they like it, but if they don't, who cares?

Well, there's nothing you can "do" with it. If you don't like it, don't listen to it.

Some techno/electronica is pretty decent though. Check out a band called The Crystal Method. They combine electronica drum loops with real live guitars:

The Prodigy also use live guitars, as do Pendulum.

As for rap and hip hop, if it wasn't for that then we wouldn't have bands like the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Rage Against The Machine.

(This argument has come up so many times now!)

And BHS, I frickin' LOVE Rage Against the Machine.
And lol, Forza Motorsport 2.. I have that game xD

But on topic,
I really hate pop/rap/dance/hip hop etc.
I find it highly annoying and wonder how people can like it. But I guess if you like it then that's your opinon, you're free to listen to whatever you want.
I tried getting some people into heavier music (punk, grunge, metal, hard rock, etc.) but some liked it and some didn't. I have friends that like literally everything... Hell, at least they're versatile with their tunes.

I forgot to mention about rock/electro crossover. Rock + Metal = Industrial Metal, like Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie, Rammstein, or Ministry.

There are also some bands like Mindless Self Indulgence that combine rap, punk and techno.

When you get older as well GuitarBoy666, and you start going to clubs and stuff, you kinda have to like it, cos that's all you'll hear!

To be honest, I don't mind that rock and metal nowadays sits behind hip hop in popularity. Since when did popular always equal good? I'm pretty sure that there's some die hard hip hop fans out there who hate the new commercial hip hop/RnB.

Hahhah, very true.

Yes, but its also something more than just pressing those buttons. When you try to produce the "beat" in your drum and bass track to get it "pumpping" and do hours and hours of work changing little parameters of effects and equalizators. Pager, dont mock it. There is always something you can learn.

and if you listen band called Ozric tentacles or Porcupine tree. You will propably change your opinion for computers or synthezizers in music or backing guitar.

Wahey, Porcupine Tree! I think I've gotta go give you karma just for that!

It's true though. Some of their really early stuff is really trance influenced, like The Sky Moves Sideways or Voyage 34. And their latter stuff still occasionally uses sampled drums, like the intro to Sentimental.

no harder than putting your fingers on a string and strumming, and pendulum, prodigy, faithless and others are sheer awesome, should expand your horizons a bit, and how do you think they do the backing tracks? drums, bass and keyboards play a bit part in that

I love techno, but I hate hip-hop. every time I listen to it I find out a new song that they mess up. for example the other day at my friends house I heard the beginning of what sounded like Fear of the Dark by Iron Maiden. but it turned out to me another rap song about the same old thing. I mean they even used the live croud's chant along with the main riff!

I would just leave it alone.

People get very passionate about music, but not every one needs to be into the same stuff. but just because your buds are into techno does not mean you have to be.

Find your inner peace man and just let it be

I agree that the worst thing about rap is all the reusing of sampling and the remixes out there. The underground will always be, well underground. But the Golden Age of rap has died a while ago. Every new song has to have a dance to go w/ it. It's sad... I was out with a few people the other night and these two girls had no idea of Warren G's "Regulators" (We were talking about classic rap songs)
