I found a guy who is selling a '98 Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier and I'm looking to buy it.

I'm going to visit him and check the amp out soon, but I wanted to know if anyone here has played this amp before?

The cab has Celestion V30's in it, which I have heard in other cabs and sound awesome, so I'm not concerned about the cab.

I know that people that buy the NEW triple and dual rectifiers often shell out a few hundred dollars to get them "modded" so that they sound like the ones from the '90s like this particular amp I'm looking at. So that sounds like a good deal.

I'm pretty sure you can't go wrong with a Mesa Boogie that originally cost close to $3000 (USD), and it is in mint condition. But I just want to know if anyone here has played it and how it would do playing extremely heavy music with.

Oh and I apologize for posting a topic that actually relates to guitar, I know how some of you hate that. ;-)

I hate these darn threads whats a Guitar anyways? LOL. Sounds like a good deal. Ive played some Mesa/Boogie amps and I can say that most of them were pretty heavy and thick sounding with a Jackson Rhoads.

Well I'm definitely looking for something heavy and thick sounding. I forgot to mention that the guy is throwing in extra sets of tubes and a gig case for the amp and cab, all for only $1600.
