Well it starts off with Billy (im just calling him that for now) getting in a serious car accident and going in a deep coma. where he goes to a dark place, like ones in nightmares, and hes wondering if he's dreaming or if he died and went to hell. Then he meets this character named Black (again, temporary name, and to put an image in ur head he'd kinda look like a dark scarecrow). This character basically represents the devil. so theres a song from Billy's point of view, then one from Blacks. so then a few songs in a new character is introduced, Im calling him Jester for now, this guy is Billy's mental insanity and is embodied in a mask which at this point Billy has the willpower to take off. As the album goes on Jester gets stronger and stronger, as it progresses Billy has less and less will power to take off the Jester mask, so he's losing his sanity. then near the end Billy gets enough strength to take of the Jester mask and throws it away. and instantly wakes up from the coma. He is now relieved he got out of that place, but soon wonders where he is because he cant see anything but black... and then it turns up his in his own coffin! THE END

wutcha guys think? suggestions? comments?

I suggest you never record an album if this is what you come up with.

It's gay is what it is. I hate this whole "concept" album with fairy tales and what not. If it happens to you during an acid trip, ok. If not, it's just gay.

no...

the question should not be, 'what is wrong with this??' but, 'what is RIGHT about this???'.

because i can't find a single thing right about it.

He WAS fighting himself.

See, we need each other. We shouldn't be fighting and killing each other. We are all brothers and sisters. In a way, we all share the same life. We ARE each other.

So, in a sense, he was fighting himself. "Other" people just happened to be caught in the cross fire.

I know. As a Christian (or anyone who has anything to do with ANY religion), it's quite obvious. Anyway, I still don't think it's the dog's bullocks.

Nope. It just wreaks of gayness (not the salvation bit, that part was epic!).

Skold, you're putting holes in your own argument with your "gay" reasoning. Blanket derogatory terms are generally not good tools when trying to argue any position, much less when your opponent is above the age of twelve and has an IQ of 85 (or higher).

I like the idea BBT, the story could obviously be fleshed out, but even in its current state, your outline has the cornerstones for the major pivotal events/songs. Give Opeth's Still Life album a listen, it's an amazing concept album, so hopefully it will help you with how you want to convey the story and other more technical things. If not, it's just a great listen.

Crunch, I'm not attaching sexuality to it. If I wanted to, I would have said it was Homosexual.

But, by all means, lets forget that words like "Gay" and "F*****" don't mean what we THINK they mean (Happy, and A pile of twigs).

Dude I think you have a great Idea there, I love the story line and the ending is just sweet. Not the salvation... the grave ending.

Dont listen to the "happy" little kids on this site. They are just "A pile of twigs". Hmmmm I dont think those meanings fit here...

im a huge concept album fan, especially the ones done by pink floyd, i like the basis, but if you could tweak it, addd take away, and so on, with good song writing and music, it could be good

I think concept albums are tricky to pull off. The songs need to be solid and stand on their own regardless if it's just an regular album or concept. If the tell a story great. but have a listen to the final cut by pink floyd, a bad concept because the music sucked.

yea the final cut wasnt that good, i like concept albums like dark side of the moon, where it doesent tell a story but all teh songs and the album itself tackle a certain point

I agree. Your idea seems too specific for a concept album.

An Armaggedon theme would be better.

okay thanks guys

i would try to do kinda different voices for the different characters, like a growl/scream wutever u wanna call it for black, a normal singing voice for Billy, and a kinda twisted evil sounding voice for Jester.

this is something random i came up with in the shower lol. thot id see if it was totally retarded before i started with it.

I was also thinking that at the start Billy thinking that Black was good, then as it goes on he realizes that he is bad.. kinda spiritual thinking there.
