im sure most of you have noticed many tabs sites have been shut down in the past year. and many more are to come..

the damn MPA has said tablature online is illegal. "violating copyright.." blah blah blah.

its ridiculous. most tabs arent even 100% correct. how are begining guitarists supposed to learn to play their favorite songs? there are too many arguements against this banning, but how has this affected anyone.. one site closes and we move to another.

i was very sad when i learned mysongbook.com was closed. guitar pro is a wonderful program that should be shared with no problems.

.. so what does everyone here have to say about this?

im sure this site is perfectly fine, since theres not really any tabs.. its mainly a site listing scales and chords, and gives a look into theory when it can.

there is "tabs" here, just go to the songs column...

even though there are still so many sites to shut down, i think it is a stupid idea, and how the hell are they gonna shut every single tab site???

they did the same thing with outlawing free music downloads.

i feel you man!! i was shocked when i found out that the mxtabs.net were closed for good.. i rely a lot on tablatures.. but then, i try look on the bright side of things.. guess it'll help me be a better musician by working harder and trying to transpose songs myself..

sometimes it is pretty hard to find a chord by ear, so that brings us back to thats what tabs are for...

but im telling you if you google up a song you will always find a tab.

personally i feel that music shouldnt be owned by anyone, its art, and that selling tabs, its just lining peoples pockets, but this may be just bcos im skint.

yeah UG had a article the other day saying how they wont get shut down because theyre based out of russia, and theyre laws are different.. so as long as they pay a lil bit of royalties, they can still stay open..

:P i DLed a mysongbook.com torrent.. 55,000+ tabs. hehehe i dont think i need the net really.. but its always nice to get a few opinions on how a song is played (like i said, not all tabs are correct)

try your local library! if they dont have the tab book you want, you can usualy order it, for free, and that way you know the tabs are (usualy) top notch.

you have to have a program that DLs them.. i use azureus.

then you go to places like torrentspy.com or torrentsearch.com (just google torrent and what you want) and search the file there..

theyll have it no matter what it is (most places have a full discography of damn near every band) and you click it to DL it..

http://torrentspy.com/search.asp?h=&query=guitar+pro&submit.x=0&submit.y=0

at the bottom of this page are two torrents that appear to be the same.. thats the torrent i used.

id try the one that says application.

... BUT, both of those torrents have a tiny red bar, so im not sure how well theyll DL.

but in case they do work this is what to do:

click on one of those and then click the "Download now" button.. itll ask you if you want to save to disk or open.. open it in azureus (must have) and wait.

there should be lil smiley faces in azureus to tell you how its doing. if its red for more than 5 mins, get rid of it and try this link..

http://s7.quicksharing.com/v/9690114/Mysongbook.Guitar.Pro.January.2006_55294.tabs_.zip.html

once again, just watch the faces, itll be like green or yellow if its going.
