Really good phrasing. I love how you're so different from this typical stuff I always hear. Still keep to techniques which were already around, but you've changed it to something new. Well done.

Well heres a link to mine its a 12 minute improv to a backing track i got for pink floyd style soloing: http://www.showcaseyourmusic.com/danielm

It may be a bit dodgy at times as this is my first attempt at soloing with this backing track and i didnt have any licks prepared or anything.

Enjoy

It's always good to start slow and then bring your solo to life. But you need to keep working on it. You sound like you're still seeing within the box, try and experiment outside of it every now and then, it'll help. It's a good start, but you need to work on it.

Try to listen to your timing, nod your head or tap your foot along to the music to keep yourself in time. Listen back to this solo, too. What do you think about it? What do you think works and what doesn't? Go along with the drum beat and listen to your playing, it'll help you to understand where you're going out of time.

woo-o-ou you are in the...

When I was in army here in Finland, when we stand in straight line with our rifles and our sergeant checks that everything is order...he noticed scratchses on my rifle back and yelled to me "WHAT IS THAT" and I answered calmly "Its the name of my rifle" and he suddenly went white...

i know exactly where that is ironman...bout 45 minutes from where i live.

@empirism: back in basic training, our weapons checks were nightmares...we'd spend all day low crawling the mud with our weapons then given 10 minutes to have them clean again...which never happended, but bit of dirt on the weapon and we all doing pushups tills we puked.

aye, everyone know that its almost imposible to have them cleaned, but thats the way they know it is. Its part of the attitude training... imbosible missions that can be done that they can "punish" with things like pushups. Keep your mind strong and dont take it personally and you rock.

Good Idea I'll post a classic rock song probably by the Skynard.

Guitarsinger good luck and bring us back a turban or a goat.

I heard they have some beauties in Germany.

@ Empirism we should have a Rock a Thon like everyone should play their best solo but then I'm afraid someone might steal it.

We should definetely post our Vids.

Okay the first song is what I wanted to show off my improv.
Backing Track: Steve Vai-For the love of God

I know the beginning is how it goes, but at about 2:00 and then on I just improv and do whatever I feel in my hands and heart:

@shred
I liked the panoration tricks on that one :), also shredding technique is good, but maybe because that is so long improvisation... it get little out of hand in couple times...

Im not a judge, but imo as far guitarslinger is at the top :)

Ahhh I used to jam to this track, the memories!! haha.

Making those mistakes when you accidentally play the open strings are going to happen a lot, it even happens to the greats. What you should do is not ignore it and keep playing, but make it sound like you meant to do it even though you didn't. So now that you've played an open string work your way around that area and just mess around. John McLaughlin does it a lot.

There's some improvement in your playing, but you still need more practice. Keep up the good work.
