What guitar do you have at the moment? It might be better to wait for a few years and buy a $1000 guitar rather than spend $400 on a guitar now and then another $1000 in a few years time.

Okay one last comparison.

This new Ibanez

http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/reviews?base_pid=519783&page=1&sc=date&so=desc

Or the old one.

I like the first one myself, but they are the same thing I'm basically judging on reviews and "Perrtay Colors" with these two.

There aren't any pawn shops at all where I'm at dude.

Dimebag Tip - When you find a guitar in a pawn shop that you like, pop the high E string and then complain that the price is too high because the neck is screwed up and talk the guy down. Odds are they have no Idea what your saying so they'll drop the price thinking you know what your talking about lol.

Squire strats are £100-£150 ($200-$300), so getting another $300 guitar will be a bit of a waste of money.

I just thought I'd let you guys know. With the programs that are out today, you don't really need a mixing board. You can sort out the sound, the effects, the timing, anything, it can all be sorted out within the actual program. I wouldn't waste any money if you don't have to. I recommend (If you have a MAC and a decent amount of money) to get Logic Studio. It's by far the best program out.

Ozz, Jackson's are a pretty decent guitar, pretty much the exact same guitar that you're showing but it's got a screamer in the body which is pretty cool.

A bit of both on the want/need spectrum. With this guitar I'll have more options of sound, technique, and overall more *** to make music with on it. The Floyd Rose, humbucker, and two single coils, and 24 frets. And it'll give me more to record [the recorder I'll look into to buy with my own money, not Christmas], and I'd probably be starting gigging right now if I'll ever be able to find a band. And having this one, will prevent me from saying "Oh we gotta wait 6 to 8 weeks and then another one till I have a decent enogh guitar and figure out its specs to use to my advantage". This way I'll be ready.

why don't you check some pawn shops or craigs list and look at getting a second and guitar. That way your giving your dad a price break and your still getting a nice guitar.

Jackson

By the way skold I was right on on your recommendations, live the ibanez but i would go with out the trem, and the recorder looks nice. I still have an old school cassette 4-track.

Craig's list is blocked on my computer for some reason, and like I daid earlier there aren't any pawn shops. I talked to my dad and he said that I can get any guitar I want that is within reason, he'll probably let go a hundred or so cos' its Christmas and I'll work out a sort of payment plan for the rest. [Yard work, cleaning, etc].

@JazzMaverick

I have to disagree with you. One of my recent purchases as a small little mixing board and it has made a world of difference. I can also keep every thing hooked up at once. It's so convent and i have options for phatonm power which I'll need in the next year or so.

a mac alone costs a decent amount of money. but it does not really what what platform your on as long as you can get done what you need to get done.

@ Skold

Logic Studio is amazing man, seriously. There won't be a single day that goes by where you won't be satisfied. Save up for this because you'll be amazed with the effects you can do, and there's about 50 effects for the vocals, truly amazing.

They're also stretched out their instruments, FINALLY. I was getting so annoying with the previous Logic but this one's outdone itself.

@ Tele

oh yeah, I'm not saying it's crap or anything, just not really needed. I'm still going to get one myself when I get the money, but I just thought realistically that for those who don't have much money, the program would be a much better idea.

For those who don't have MACs, I'd highly recommend Cubase.

I find MACs weird, and I can't really use them properly. But I'm going to have to get used to it with the new Logic Studio program. The amount of stuff you can do on there! It's great, I love it.
