Haha, yeah this place rules. For some reason when I was a chicken on other forums I'd get booted off after about a year...not fair. They use me for laughter then throw me away! So, I much prefer this place, it keeps and accepts me for who/what I am!

Well, it was. Look back at the old posts on the forum if you don't believe me.

When I said "serious musicians" I didn't necessarily mean people who are planning on a career in music or people who are technically advanced. I meant people were asking decent questions about music, and people were giving sensible answers. Beginners could come on here and ask a question and within a couple of days (the forum only had a couple of posts a day back then, if that) the question would be answered. I remember once Skold posted something that was off topic, and people started going mad because he was talking about something irrelevent to this forum. Now the forums are cluttered with pointless pictures, video clips, people who believe that they're actually a chicken, posts which belong in a teen chat room, and threads which really should be talked about by doctors and psychiatrists rather than musicians. Meanwhile, important music-based threads are becoming overlooked.

Okay everyone. Lets all post things about octaves, gear, etc. Have no fun at all and leave. Remember, don't be expressive either.

Don't you think your exaggerating just a little bit? Ever since I've come here, my questions have been answered and i've seen many intelligent answers. Maybe you are right to a certain degree but honestly!

@ Littlewing - Exactly. Because ALL of the questions about music, and even other things always get answered. Thats what makes this place so great, because nobody is judgmental and there aren't any of those fukkin' trolls here. Why can't we have fun too though? Its all going really good, if not better than usual if we do, so I think it just adds to the excitement. And at BHS - about the "phsyciatrist" remark. Couldn't you have just blatantly directed it at me? I and everyone else knows it was. And I asked that here, because nobody [with the exception of Elliot, haha just kiddin' man] acts like they are above anyone, and nobody attacks you. This, as I see it, is the coolest forum for musicians on the internet. And a place were you can get honest answers about basically anything that doesn't fall into the realm of plain stupidity.

@Ozzfan486, yes, that was aimed at the thread you started, and seeing as you knew it was aimed at you, it shows that you also think that we're not qualified to speak on such matters. I'm sorry for personally attacking you though, it's not my style.

And the thing about "no fun, blah blah blah". I'm sorry, but if you want to sometimes chat about things the way you do (not aimed at anyone in particular) then chat rooms are the way to go. A few months ago I could have said to some of my music mates "oh, check out this website, it's really informative" etc but now all the information, which is what this forum was set up to distribute, is diluted down by off topic banter, and most of the great contributors like AfroRaven, Mightydave, Doz and Deefa have got fed up with the way the site has been going and left. Even little GuitarBoy666 has gone!

I've been here for quite a long time. Nearly two years. I remember when we were discussing about having different catagories for threads, and having a petition to get a lessons page because people kept asking the same question over and over! Now it seems like this place is just about posting whatever you like, and not about the music.

I'm not saying that having a laugh is wrong, but there is the place to do it, go on msn, go on a chat room, etc. But I would have preferred the forums to stay as they were :(

I agree with BHS. I remember when this site was a guitar site, guitarist talking about music. I'm not saying anything negative about anyone but if I just came across this site today I don't think I would join.

I didn't get to say much there as I was at school (I hope my ICT teacher doesn't go on here on that note!)

I wanted to say I think topics like 'pictures of yourself' and one or two others are just more active because there is mostly music topics, but less of us go on them repeatedly because it's always one of us asking another's opinion on thier work or for information relating to music. That always gets solved so less people go on that thread. I'd say it's still got music related stuff on it it's just not as active when resolved so then we like to be silly on the threads best suited for it.

When I joined I noticed some un-related music threads and even then I noticed there was Baudeliare who I could already tell browseing was a jerk for the sake of it. But I joined because most people seemed helpful, freindly and fun. I think if someone really compared it to UG is an insult really, when I read thier threads I was too discusted to join it. Nothing but people calling each other inappropriate things.

Yup. And I agree. The threads about music usually get solved or answered quickly because we respond quickly. And the screw - around threads are in a sense downtime until another musical one comes up.

BTW - Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in the states.
