wow, that's like saying what child do you like. I think it would be a tie between AIC and nirvana.

I'm really surprised that AIC is not getting more love from some of you who are into metal.

I love 'em. Jerry's guitar tone has always been killer I think. And Layne's voice was one-of-a-kind.

AIC and Pearl Jam are about equal for me. I only like a handful of Soundgarden songs. I really liked Temple of the Dog though. I used to be a big Nirvana fan, but I outgrew that age.

They're pretty sweet. They had Soundgarden and Pearl Jam members together! But they only had 1 album I think.

Nirvana is the obvious one.I think it's a shame nobody ever talks about where that sound came from.

The Minutemen, Sonic Youth, The Meat Puppets, the almight Black Flag too! Nirvana would still sound like sludge metal if they hadnt heavily borrowed from the Pixies.

@ telecrater

Sure your not thinking of the Melvins? Kurt thought Dale Crover was the best drummer ever, but went with Grohl too avoid breaking up the melvins.

I never listened to any mark arm projects like Green River. I dont know where I would find it to begin with....

For these I must say Nirvana... not a huge fan tho.

For me, soundgarden is horrible (soz, i know there are many who love it.) but somehow for me its horrible and most crappiest song is Blackhole sun.

I think that pearl jam should stop being put in this catagory because they are much more of a traditional rock, mixed in with grunge.

Oooh, that hurts! To be honest though, I prefer the juxtaposed title than the song. I don't hate it, but it is nowhere near Soundgarden's best.

As for the Pearl Jam argument, grunge was more of a scene than a genre. Pearl Jam may have had different influences to some of their contemporaries, but they were still part of the same scene none the less.

grunge had nothing to do with the music. it was definitely just a scene.

I agree specially since Soundgarden and Alice in Chains started playing something that sounded like Metal.

I choose Soundagrden because they had the best singer and had lot of solos.

Dude, no way. Chris Cornell may have the biggest range out of all of them, but Layne Staley was a ***ing amazing singer.

I know totally and grunge was actually invented by green river
Nirvana's smells like teen spirit was actually a riff sort of ripped off the pixies

I believe Kurt said about the song "I was trying to write the perfect pop song. I was basically ripping off The Pixies".

Well BHS, honestly I may judge Soundgarden too much, but honestly Blackhole sun is boring song and over played around the stations and darn hype of it so I may have made to me somekind of antipathy of it.

If I compare it to songs like Hand of god, Rusty gage, Cold **, Sub pop rock city or Burden in my hand. These are just from different planet than Blackhole sun is which just not do justice their best part that is Cornell. Very good singer yes.

Btw, do anyone know band Blood Circus?

I think Pearl Jam is, by far, the best band listed. However, as stated above, they're almost in a different genre than the rest of these guys. Granted, their earlier stuff was pretty "grungy."
