Our founding guitar player came up with the name "CADUS" which means slaughter in Latin

but then he changed it to "Cronus" which is Greek (mythology)

I believe Cronus sounds nerdy and kind of lame because were a thrash Metal band

also if you guys have some good name suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

me and my old band searched "cool words" on google to find our band name: Skepsis. But i like Cadus better than cronus, because like empirism said, cronus is a fairly common name for band members of black metal bands and Cadus just sounds cooler.

:P one of my old Thrash/Death metal bands haha

I prefer Cadus, but even that feels to..'blocky' to me.

I like Cadus Kane myself..

I prefer 'Cadus' out of the two. Although if I'm being honest it doesn't sound like a name people will remember. When I hear about a new local and I often struggle to remember thier name and so I'm not sure many people can keep the name in the back of thier head. But who knows, they might.

The other day I was learning about the Coriolis effect in a mechanics lecture, and I thought Coriolis would make a great band name, prog/post-rock kinda thing.

But don't you guys go steal it from me!

Edit: I thought I had already answered this, but I hadn't. Cadus gets my vote.

Yeah, Coriolis will make a good progressive rock band name.
Coriolis effect is a physical phenomenon that makes something seem to be moving along an arc, even though its moving in a straight line, when you are moving in a circle.
Im a mechanical engineer, by the way. I should show-off my superior knoweldge sometimes, shudn't I? **wink wink**

When I was young I was in a band called Sector Zero. I know, Lame. But we played so many Judas Priest and Iron Maiden songs we were nicknamed Iron Priest.
