you know i never understood why there are so many crapy mainstream artists, but yngwie along side satch vai, stevie jimi and all the rest he never really gets put on the line.. and he is pratically better then them all classicaly influenced.. he could kik all butts but not alot from the news on him.. but then again thats just how i see it.. but maybe the cheesey guys need more attention since he is already the best.. ye satch is awesome not my choice though i already put my main guys on there.. out of all the guitarists id have to say satch is top on my list for mainstream vai well.. i have problems with him.. he is good though

i dunno, i always got the impression from interveiws that id read that malmsteen was really egotistical. i saw a few videos of him play and my eyes just glazed over, he's not really my cup of tea. Satch i love, i think he's amazing, and Vai i really dig too. hendrix was very much a different type of guitarist when compared to malmsteen satch or vai, but still i love his music as well. personally i like music to sound good, and not just be theoretically or technically amazing. i think that the 'crapy' mainstream artists are there because they sell lots of records?

i havent heard much from malmsteen though, so please recommend me a good song that i can listen to?

Being classicaly influenced does not make someone better than others. It is simply a different style. Some would say it is more theoretically or technically demanding, others would say it is unoriginal. Both are correct in some cases. All of them are great guitarists, none of them are mainstream, they are seldom mentioned outside the guitar world. Please try to type what you are saying a bit better..it is kind of hard to understand some of what you are saying.

Hey man I love Alexi Laiho from C.O.B just check out my name. :P I know he is very much influenced by Malmsteen. But I find Malstem get very very boring with his guitar playing. I am not knocking him he is as you said the best at what he does, and he has also influenced alot of players. But some of them were influenced and some just downright copy him.

to bodom: you see ive been downloading vids of malmsteen and i notice ye he does get a lil rep.. but at the same time.. i notice there alot more vids of him that do have very different things in them and mp3's aswell he does have alot more then just arpeg's, minors and majors i mean the guy is classical ever heard is concerto? or his reh or his instructionals? man that guys is just of the rocker!

mightydave: simply because malmsteen is a virtuoso nothing to do with me just thought it might fit what all of us could talk about but somehow looks like people think malmsteen is bigheaded with a fast hand.. well i dont look at his shredding damn you know ever micheal anjelo batio made a song "yngwie cant touch this" like really you think guitar is all about challengeing well not to guys/girls who just want to play!. so to whoever thinks malmsteen is bigheaded like i said before if you had that much skill was on stage almost everynight and so much more.. comn!!! you think he is a lil proud but the guy has every damn rite he practiced for years.. let him enjoy it with pride! he's a master just like satch, vai, johnson, laiho they al have a lil pride but damn yngwie just gets knocked around like he dont deserve to hold a guitar its really quite upsetting

@ malmsteen , you won't hear me bashing on malmsteen , his music may be fast but i still think it's just more than only fast , it's well written and melodic , and his ego doesn't change his music so why make a buzz about it , there are more ppl in the music scene who are just ***holes but still they make great music. still prefer satch above malmsteen but that's just personal taste...

you're right about he getting an ego , if you would be so famous and so praised it could easily get to your head and make you so full of yourself , guess lots of ppl would react this way...

anyway welcome to this forum , enjoy your time here!

Diverting from the subject (I think): Does anybody know if Malmsteem has ever recorded Pachelbel's Canon in D? I have this electrical rendition of it, but I don't know who's playing!

I agree with you Malsteen. Doesn't matter how crazy or fat or psycho or egotistical Yngwie may be, his music still kicks ass. People need to learn to separate the man from the artist. Hell, Van Gogh cut his ear.

I still think that Yngwie ain't got nothing on Satch, but... you know.

@SpinalTapper , you just wrapped up what i meant
@Malmsteen : yeah there are a lot of examples whose ego is so huge like dave mustaine from megadeth , he's so funny with all his bitching on everyone but still i love the music he made . and as a huge petruccifan i even love the vids that make fun of him.

i'm your new god! check me out i'm so amazing
