Yet another problem with my pc! I'm getting no sound at all from my speakers or my head phones!?! I know some of you are good with computer tech stuff so what could cause this and how can I fix it? I checked my speakers and they are hooked up and turned on. It's weird that I can't get anything out of the phones, like my computer has gone mute or something. My computer is my window into the musical universe please help!!!

it could just be the volume on the computer. click the speaker icon on the bottom right of your computer to check.

That was it! Thanks, one of my kids must have hit mute.

EDIT: Now that my speakers work again I can hear the "congratulations you won" BS every time I get on the net. Is there anyway to get rid of that? I must be the luckiest person in the world, because no matter what site I go to I'm always the 10,000th visitor ;-)

Really? they lied to me! I'm always the 10,000th visitor of every site :( Unless we always happen to log onto them at the same time!

Run a spyware and anti-viuse scan.
AVG is free downloadable anti-viuse, very good to.

I have spyware that doesn't get rid of those things though. I have Norton Anti-Virus which is very good, but I don't think any spyware can actually keep those things from bothering you on the internet. They can only keep your computer from cathcing bugs from them can't they?

They shouldn't bother you (well, just annoy you anyway) as long as you don't click on them and fill anything silly in.

Those "10,000th visitor" things arent viruses hehe. They are simple GUI's (Graphic User Interfaces). Meaning they allow users to simply click buttons or areas designated in code as "buttons" as opposed to reading long, boring lines of text. Now just because the GUI's arent viruses, or worms for that matter, doesnt mean they arent linked to a worm or a virus. So in short, they are like the fancy china in your mothers bureau, you can look but if you touch chances are you're gonna get your hand slapped.

-.- if they come up as a pop up on every webpage it is a sign of spyware or a virus.

From my point of view that is what he was talking about, if you mean't just the in-page adverts then what GuitarSlinger said.

I think too that it might be AD "spyware" or atleast its possible. I suggest you to get latest firefox and Adblock plus. You could get rid of it. Also get yourself malwarebytes antimalvare or a-squared. Those are free and very efficient.

If its the case that you get those no matter what webpage you go, its not normal.
