Hi everyone! I know some of you are aware of my band, but we put up new recordings and I figured I'd formally introduce my band to you!

We're Mersa, named after the staph infection MRSA. It's kind of a corny name but it stuck. We formed about a year ago in a barn in Hinton, Iowa. We're a metal/metalcore/deathcore band. I am the lead guitarist!

The recordings are sloppy and the arrangements are kind of boring. I honestly spent about a week writing the songs we have up and we spent 12 hours recording. I don't think it turned out too bad considering the circumstances, but there are some timing issues and what not that I wish I could have had more time to smooth out. And our vocalist had bronchitis when he recorded his parts. All the solos are improvised live so they're a little sloppy on the recordings too.

And if anyone on here lives anywhere close to one of our shows please come out and say hi! I can at least hook you up with a CD or shirt or something haha.

Hope you guys enjoy.

Cool, you guys have many gigs coming, too bad that I have little too long to travel there, man otherwise I would be there for sure :P.

Swimming with the sharks was pure favorite ^_^

Was just discussing Mersa with my bands vocalist, first thing he said was 'Are you sure there not signed?'...we both think you should be.
The recording is actually really great mate, the mixing is sport on and everything is nice a clear, so don't think you have anything to worry about there.

That's just great. I am surprised though that you guys aren't signed.
maybe you should try out for Ozzfest some year, seeing that a lot of metal bands got big that way

Good stuff but I live way too far from Iowa to go see your show.

If one day you guys get to San Diego make sure you play at SOMA its a great venue with good fans.

Thanks for all the compliments guys!

@Empirism: Hopefully we'll tour over on your side of the waters some day! If we do you'll have to come out!

@Telecrater: That would be awesome if you could come to our meet and greet! Doing meet and greets is always a little weird because most of the people that come don't know who you are, and are just there cause you're a band. It'd be nice to kinda know someone there!

@Nutter166: Thanks alot. There are a lot of people locally talking about how we're going to get signed, hopefully it happens! We've been contacted by a few record labels but we're kind of taking our time with that so we make the right choice. Oh and if you want a CD and shirt you wont be the first that we've sent stuff overseas for!

@Darkriff: John Stamos is alot of peoples' favorite. The first half of the song is in the diminished whole/half scale, and during the break down I used notes that diminished and major scale shared, and pivoted off of them into the relative minor. That's where it gets all melodic and stuff. The sweeping is kind of generic but I thought the locals would like some sweeping.

@League: We're actively planning a Summer 2010 tour out to Southern California so I will definitely look into this SOMA!

Hey Matt, it could be a cool if you tour here someday. Btw, check this one out

http://www.tuska-festival.fi/en/

This could be a good place to start :). These festivals held every year and hopefully someday you hit on stage there. There been many famous bands, but also many from myspace so it could be possible or what you say? :P. Im not sure how to contact them but anyway, but keep that festival in mind.

Cheers

That would be so awesome to come play that festival. We checked into touring outside of the country, but we'd have to pay thousands in fees for permits. Usually those costs are covered by record labels. So hopefully once we get signed we can come overseas! If we get signed haha.
