I very rarely listen to any rap on my own, but I can dig it if a friend is jammin' to some rap while we're chillin'.

Well, rap... NO. Underground hip hop with quality beats and quality lyrics is tolerable. Used to be all I listened to in 10th grade. Some groups like Dilated Peoples and Eligh/Grouch put on some damn good shows.

Ehhh since I listen to a lot of video game music I get used to a lot of music as long as it has a good beat and soul behind it.I just can't deal with all the stuff thats trying to be serious but it's all about booty calls or whatever. Now stuff that tries to be funny like "Baby Got Back" thats a classic :P

I mean this stuff I like fur sure granted its a awesome mix XD hahaha and the music from Madworld is epic XD O and also look up the song "Libera Me From Hell"

I listen to old rap, along with Japanese & Anime Rap.

I'm like a broken record when I say this; but it's always down to opinion. But then... it's also down to the decent musicians to use these rapers' ignorance against them. ;)

I said no because I've lsitened to a lot, but I certainly haven't found any I liked. Something I notcied is a lot of rappers even take an older rapper's composition and pretty much take their backing track and often also their tempo for their own 'new' song. But mainly I don't like them as practically every one I've heard is just insults or bragging, if not both with a backing track. The only one that isn't is 'It was a good day' by Ice Cube, that wasn't so bad but not good enough for me to like the whole genre.

@League I did listen to NWA and Easy E only on GTA San Andreas, I didn't like them much. But hey I guess raps just simply not my thing. Especially that Eninem guy, grief he's the worst 'musician' I've ever heard.

I like Eminem. "Lose Yourself" is good. I like Tech N9ne and Krizz Kaliko. "Like Yeah" by Tech is good but I like Krizz Kaliko better. "Misunderstood" and "Chip On My Shoulder" by Krizz Kaliko are amazing.

Whoa there's no comparing Eazy-E and Eminem it's like comparing Van-Halen to the Jonas Brothers.

I guess yeah rap is not your thing.

I can't listen to it for more than 10 minutes max but Eazy-E is as close as I get, maybe it's because I grew up listening to his music and besides his lyrics are respectable and as real as it gets.

I really like Rage Against the Machine, not your standard "rap," but it's there nonetheless. I've always enjoyed Run-DMC too. I can listen to Eminem, Jay-Z, and some Tech N9ne. Mostly because they don't take themselves too seriously and actually rap, as opposed to repeating a ridiculous phrase over and over.

WTF kind of accusation is that???

No man, Black people made REAL music long before this genre was even thought of.

Yeah I guess rap just isn't my thing. Although believe it or not, when I was 12 I was pretty big on artists like the Notorious BIG, Dr Dre and Snoop Dog. It's strange, after about a year I just totally went off the sound of it. I think it was just because I didn't explore many generes then, once I found Punk rock (which I don't like much now either) I just went off it.

@Patleh this is all I'm going to say on the subject or else I feel this will lead into a pointless arguement that will ruin the thread for everybody. But just because some people don't like rap, certainly does NOT mean they are a racist. It's about the music, not the colour of who does it. I don't care what colour skin an artist has. I don't see why you should assume that's why some of us here dislike the genere.

CLASSIC!

and nop cussing .. big positive vibe.

got pulled in when "the message" came out then "new york new york big city of dreams but everything in new york aint always what it seems , you might get fooled if ya come from outta town, but im down by law and i know my way around....too much--too many people , too much...."

something like that.

then (for me) "rap" died in the mid 80's

except for Lou Reed that is .. seriously

@Patleh, Heather's exactly right. You instantly assume that those who don't like this genre are racist towards black people... That's like saying those who don't like Classical automatically detest old people! You're more racist for insinuating that rap is the only genre blacks make let alone them being the only race who makes that music.

You're allowed to state an opinion but think before you accuse anyone of being racist!

@Patleh,
I just read through the comments on this thread and almost all are positive towards rap or some form of rap or towards specific rap artists so I'm not sure where your sudden outburst came from. I don't listen to rap, I don't enjoy rap. Doesn't make me a good person, doesn't make me a bad person. In other words; go screw yourself!

Its not as if your hating an entire genre you don't like a single band. By not liking all the rappers and rap groups you hating a culture that is prodominantly black

But it is prodominantly black to the point where people indentify black people with rap as people align white amerian/british people with rock and old people classical music.

Also, may i point out that kanye west is a much better preformer then Bono especially live because on his stuff he may be auto-tuned as hell but in person he is a much better preformer than him.

Haha! so its like if i dont like the beatles i Hate British people just because i dont like an Artist from There? Or if i dont like lets assume Psytrance (wich by the way i love) then i instantly hate Israeli and Indian Goa People just because i dont like their genre?! Hahaha, what a joke!

Music is matter of tastes, take that in consideration, nobody here has been racist! or may i begin myself being racist by saying something like "yo ****en ****s yez muzak sucks balls cuz of being ****s.." come on man
