My first song was Happy Birthday :)

I've been singing for ages so I honestly have no idea what my first song was. But I definitely advise you to check out my lesson "Singing Tips" which should help you out a lot.

@CB88,
You want your first song to be one that....
1) you genuinely like
2) isn't so hard that a beginner has no chance of learning!
3) teaches you something valuable about basic guitar playing
4) gives you confidence and encouragement to move forward

More than words is def a pretty tune
take your time, ask questions (plenty of answers here) and learn it all the way through!
Most of all enjoy the process, don't get discouraged and learn proper techniques (don't cheat or take short cuts) Ask for help if you need it.
Do some warm ups each day before you start (losen up those fingers)
Learn all of the chords for this song one at a time perfectly and don't move on until you do (otherwise you'll have hesitations in your playing)
Play the song very slowly at first until you have it perfect then pick up the speed until it is just right.
Strumming or fingerstyle will both sound very nice.

Haha yeah it would of course for me too. It's just like if you learn one or two but aren't sure they're your favourite's to learn, there's always enough time anytime you like to look at another one.

Take on one song at a time!!! Don't overload yourself. You'll get frustrated and give up on all of them.

Focus on technique and endurance, then focus on playing a song. Pick one and play it till it's perfect. This may take a day, to a week, to a few months.

Sooner or later, you'll be faster and faster to learning songs to the point of it being super easy.. Just takes time.
