Weird question but does anyone else picture colors when they hear sounds? More particularly guitar tones, like Eddie Van Halen's guitar sound is of course "Brown", but mine is more Bluish-green.

Paul Gilbert's Tone reminds me to a clean Orange,So Do Hendrix,Malmsteen Reminds me to a Bone-Kinda color,mixed with yellow.

Yeah I do sometimes. But not often if it's a actual song with lyrics though of course. Then I'm just pictureing the descriptions and scenery. But if I listen to something like Buckethed I'll usually imagine lots of colours drifting by, with him usually different shades of blue and green for some reason. That usually happens when a song or sound seems mellow to me.

someone posted this kinda question before...
i have always seen sounds as colors and notes as the shape or the colors or various blocks and streams in them.
i find this helpful and fun.

I like to picture colors with sounds. It helps me make connections easier too. Like E is Orange to me, really helps me "paint a picture" with the notes.

I don't necessarily picture a color with a sound or tone as much as I do with a mood. Like for example you said about Eddie case, I don't picture the "brown" sound everyone says about, I picture or feel a mood of crazy, off the wall, fun, and excitement. Idk. Thats just me though.

same kind of concept too though. When I write a song(I do write songs, but they never sound good to me) i usually try to get the colors to create a mood like you said. Most of the stuff I've been writing has a diminished far out weird feel to it, and it gets a weird almost evil red color when I listen back at my guitar tracks...

Oh, I didn't know you meant what our guitar sounds like or whatever. idk. I'm confusing myself as I have been a lot lately lol. I think I'm looking to far into things. But anyways, when I listen to my stuff I get this kind of bi-polar vibe from it. Almost moody and sarcastic. But the thing is, I usually don't, and try not to act mean or moody unless I have an unusually bad time or day. Due to this, I think that parts of me in which I try to tame and keep down as a person I can let go and express with my instrument. I don't know. I'm just now noticing this as I type so everyone reading is in on the little epiphany too. I find it kind of interesting myself.

G and C are more yellowish and gold because they are bright

While Am is Crimson because of its like a lowered A which is red

E is blue or green because of its melencholy

Yeah, thats what I see

Sounds remind me of places and times rather than colors. It's kinda weird, but some particular songs may remind me of let's say winter, snowish weather and some some special place or the sunrise in the beach or something like that. It also works with memories (places I've been to at a given time) but I think that's because I was listening to the song when I was there.

@mici

some songs will remind of some of the most insignificant times in my life, Like "Flying High Again" by Ozzy reminds me when me and my dad were taking my little brother(he was about 1 1/2) to the pool and we were sitting at an intersection...

some songs remind me of seasons too...
