k i know a bunch about delays being an delay freak.

first lets go over the 3 delay, tape, analog, and digital

tape: probably the best delay, most expensive, most prone to breaking. you need to keep buying tape (annoying) and are so big that you MUST keep them separate from the pedalboard. unless your pedalboard is like the size of an amp.

analog: my favorite delays. only the good ones of course. these are awsome, small, sound amazing! some say better then tape, some say negligable, some say nothing like them. ive tryed tape and analog, i like tape better, but for the tape price vs. analog price, and the tape size vs. analog size, there was no doubt.

digital:my least favorite delay. although some can be good. boss makes a decent one that can mock the famed and loved and holy DM-2! not the same but still good.

the sound difference between analog and tape i think is negligable as long as its not a ***ty analog and amazing tape. but tape does sound better.

the difference between analog and digital is this. lets say you say my name "elliott" into a analog and digital. the digital with give it back to me perfect the exact same way "elliott, elliott, elliott" and so on.

the analog goes "elliott, eliiet, elnit...." basicly the signal on the analog ghets lost instead of the same thing over and over, it eventually garbles, but by that time the delay is probably over. however analog also sounds better, then delay, i think.

also think this, when your sololing with it, do you really want the same thing same volume repeating, or do you want it fading out? if it stays there repeating at the same volume, same sound until the time is done, it will cover up your other notes.

NOW: WHATS A GOOD DELAY???

tape: the ONLY tape id look into is the fulltone tape delay. big, NOT cheap, but damn good sounding. you could try a vintage one but they break BIG TIME! maybe other small boutique companies make other tape delyas, but thats the only one i know of

analog: MANY MANY MANY different analog delays, i personally have the "DM-2" by boss, the orig 80s. considered by many to be the best analog delay or delay made. some like the newly reisued "aqua puss" the originals are going for insande prices, youd have to reserch some analogs, id recommend a vintage dm-2, but MANY MANY MANY are messed with, (the trim pots inside and messed with to make the delay time longer, the delay time is very short and some idiots post videos of how to make it longer. all it does is DESTROY the pedal. and is irriversible.) its easy to hear if it has it though. go to proguitarshop on youtube to see some good analog delays... they have tons of pedal reviews. along with gearmanndude.

digital: i really wouldnt get this over an analog and dont know too much having not played one, but the boss dd-3 looks kinda good? idk.

good luck!

honestly i couldnt choose tape over analog bc the price is probably at least 400$ more for a good one. some can EASILY go into the $1000s.

btw if you have money to burn look up PETE CORNISH on ebay. if you like 1k or 6k to spend on delay buy his. they are G@dly. honesly. nothing better. david gilmour uses his. look at pete's site. he makes probably the best stuff.

idk about the libne 6 echo park. but i wouldnt touch line 6. mostly digital multi effects ***.

acctually let me change that, my dm-2 compared to my very wealthy friends fulltone tape...

the tape defintly sounds better... i didnt do a side to side comparison. but i honestly dont think its somthing where its so good where i just go OMG I HAVE TO HAVE IT. more likeWOH its better then my dm-2. but for a 1200$ price tag and having it be very heavy, its not worth it.
