skip to end for the short story.

I had a dd-6. liked it but I have tons of other music equipment (non guitar) and I knew that i wasnt in love.

bought an ibanez ad-9 robbert keeley reissue. fell in love with the pedal and since it was the only analog i ever tried and I loved it I figure I would love em all.

ad-9. dark. dirty and sell oscillates with good bass tone for days. Just my kind of pedal. 300ms delay time good enough for me.

Bought a reissue aqua ***

first thoughts. way brighter. just a great tone. the self oscilation goes instantly hi frequency and is nothing pleasant at all. not mutch repeat time specially compared to the infinate ad-9

then all of a sudden I find an original ibanez ad-8 for 40 bucks. cant pass that up so i add that to my list

original ad-9. amazing tone. pretty much like the reissue but for some reason wont even go as far as oscillation. dont know if it was messed with or not.

so now I have 3 analog delays i sold off the dd-6 to a band mate..

found an mxr carbon copy figured i might as well try that and the moog delay is on my short list (along with the echolution)

soo here is my questions

do you guys ever implement chaining delays and what are you tricks and tips.

i dont but i know people who do.

if you want another delay to your collection you need the godfather of analog delays, the boss DM-2.

i think itd be foolish to stack delays HOWEVER i think it would be quite smart to put them on a pedalboard for different uses.

1 for long delays 1 for medium delays, 1 for slapback, and of course u can make 1 more apparent then the others, the combinations are endless.

sounds like the ramblings of a delay *** though. haha

lol...

actually stacking them has been pretty fun. i can create some blissfull ambiant textures.

yea i want to try the boss dm-2 . the aqua puss is a clone of it

i figure buy em all at a resaleable price. then pass em on and keep the 1 (or 3) that are perfect for me

really? i only have the dm-2 so i cant comment. id think id be madness. or blasphamy. but never sparta... but alas it is...and i have no idea why im talking like this.... (suddenly im hungry and i dont know why? haha im jk)

yeah the DM-2 rules. i really liked the aqua puss though, totally awsome pedal...

beware when buying a DM-2 id say at least 60-70% of them are ruined sadly.

some IDIOTS post videos of "How to Mod a DM-2 Without Effecting the Tone at All!" WRONG. What it is, is messing with the trim pots, which if you do you can never get the original sound and its fairly easy to tell if theyve been messed with, make sure that when u buy it just ask "HAS IT BEEN MESSED WITH??? TRIM POTS???" if you do that you should be fine. if it is and u buy u can always send back. but they are really sick pedals. if u get a good 1

LUCKILYYYY: i got one where the backplate looked as if it had never been opened! i got damn lucky.

yea I have heard that. i worried the same thing about the original ad-9 i picked up.

just as an example imagine this

(by the way in theory i dont quite understand the setup but to be fair i have been stoned since i have been messing with it)

ok.

chain 3 delays.

ad-9 ri ---> ad-9 -----> aqua puss

all three have the repeat all the way down. delay level and delay time all the way up..

you will hear the last delay. then the second to last then the first

so you will hear 3 delays that sound nice.

in theory i think you hear all three. then the first two.. then just the first one.

if i turn down the first one the last echo will be softer...

or if i shorten the delay time on the last delay the first echo will be half time then the rest with follow the second and third consecutivly.

this is simple one repeat from each delay... you can shorten for instance the last ones delay and time or the first to get varying delays.

varying all three and turning on and off after a few minutes of twisting can give amazing sheening sounds.

maybe ill record some audio after a few days of mastering the chain.

also.. using the dd-6 reversed at the beginning gives even more amazing sound

i am gonna map out why later.
