So here we go... it's been a long time since I've recorded anything... and I just realized that I need to get back into using my metronome A LOT more often :( Sorry for all the minor tempo fails :(

If not technically, I think this is melodically your best one Ive heard. I really liked it. Those few minor tempo fails didnt bother me much, actually I counted 2 without paying attention to them too much and another is at ending so... doh well, anyway I know, you are heading to perfection anyway :), but still part of that "mellow mood" is from a bit loose playing isnt it? :)

Cheers

I assumed you actually wrote the piece. A little disapointed you didn't.

Haha i know of that case guitarmastergod, but i didnt find useful to bring it on here, anyways there is much more about that case...like...satriani maybe ripped this riff from this importan latin guitar player?

still its controversy, and that kind of things happen all the time in music...

Awesome cover dude... haven't heard anything from you in ages! Glad to hear you've still got the ambition. This is a brilliant verson - you must have added your own stuff to this because I've never heard a cover similar to this. Excellent job :)

very nice version! i wish i could do that myself. i liked the rhythmic structures! I think its a very balanced arrangement! Good work! At some points maybe some more differentiation in the verse, like different voicings or such? maybe look up igor presnyakovs version of the song on youtube. He like uses different voicings and plays the notes differently during some parts of the song. It gives it a bit more of a change. I just try to be constructive by the way, Maybe it can help you. I do not in any way try to criticise your piece in any way. As I said: Great work! I wish i could do something like this! What were the first songs for which you made arrangements?

@Admiral

Thanks for the kind words, and the constructive criticism! I'll be playing around with voicings as I know exactly what you are tlaking about (I love Igor's arrangements... at least most of them o_0)

I started doing arrangements of songs that just got stuck in my head. The first, I will admit, was an Enrique Iglesies song called "Hero". The song is melodically very easy so it was a good first song to learn how to play by ear. From there, I moved to more complicated songs. This one was next, as I am also working on arrangements of "Fireflies" by Owl City and "Soul Sister" by Train.

The way I write these arrangements is very simple:

1) Figure out the progression
2) Figure out the main melodic line
3) Figure out how to put them together

Of course it's a bit more complicated than this, but yeah :) As well, it helps to listen to other people's arrangements of the song. For Fireflies, I listened to some people's versions of the song on Piano, and stole the melodic accents they used and put it in my guitar version.

I mean, I don't look at that as stealing... but yeah :)

Yeah, sounds easy... like talking japanese to me haha. man, maybe 1 and 2 barely can do but 3... or Im too stubborn who dont have patience needed :(

I quite like the "I will admit" part..=D
Thanks for your tips. I also jammed around with the song and got the verse and chorus nailed down, not too difficult actually to get the basic structure. I think I was just too scared of the whole thing, believing it was an impossible thing to do. But if you work on it for a while its actually quite cool! of course my version is not as balanced as yours, but when i get the time i will upload it. But tomorrow i will go on holidays, so i wont have my recording setup with me, but of course i have my guitar with me...always, haha.
See you in a weeks time, maybe with my version of the song ^^
