Its so weird thinking about it, everything that we say comes down to words based on letters that in certain forms can mean certain things. Its really facinating and weird. Like if i say "Crap" and then take off the c" its "rap" Which means a totally different thing... And whats even more wicked is some things are like interchangable one way and not another... Like rap is crap... But crap is most certainly not rap... Its acctually cool.. When you think of everything in the simplist of forms and then combining them its really crazy... Like just because i spelt a word wrong doesnt mean anything its just random letters put together that in different languages and thoughts and mindsets mean different things, its really wild... I dont know if yall see what i mean...

Like the human body our fingers, eyes, brain, heart, mind, skin, extrematies...etc are made of little tiny cells that are microscopic on their own, but when combined and specified to a cartain thing or part of the body can make up things and work together and form thoughts and vison and act together and move. Its really really cool if you think about it, and you really wouldnt realize unless you really think about it... Like we all know we're made of cells, but idk if we understand how weird it is, that something like that, when combined and somehow specified can make a working organism with thoughts and free will.

The ability to make music from us is beyond me. Its beyond me of how they separate themselves from other cells so you can take something out, its crazy i think... ITs so weird to think of things on a simpler scale and then think what they made...

And then think, in the universe like the stars and space we're just little cells just like our cells... Its crazy.. To think something like that uk... We're probably like cells to our universe and our cells are cells to us... and then like dna is like cells to cells... uk?

Think about it, its crazy...

Yeah, but i mean think about it, its acctually really cool dontcha think? to realize this? no one really appreicates how simple and how complex life is and how it comes to be, its really crazy how we function and what we use to function and how it effects us...

SO very cool i think...

yeah i mean even if your not high or tripping then i mean its still cool.

I also believe that everything natural in nature was and is there for a perpose and was made for a purpose... Its amazing what nature can give us as opposed to synthetics that companies make... We have all we need to live around us, I guess you could say "God" gave us everything we need... Im not religious but i guess i believe in god... But its just really cool to think outside our lives and see the other things...

Music is our space vibrating... it's really nothing more than that. When you pluck your guitar string, the string will vibrate, thus sending pulses of air towards your ear. These pulses are then interpreted by our mind as something that sounds good or sounds bad.

The idea that a lot of small things can make one big thing is not a new concept. It's how all large things are made. You build them one part at a time, and at the end you put it all together and hope it works.

Of course... there is always one part that doesn't want to cooperate and **s up the entire thing. The fact that you are looking for "purpose" in all things around you is normal... of course it's stupid, but that's beside the point. We look for reason, always ask questions, and always look for answers. Don't settle for anything that just might be the answer.

You keep this attitude up, and you should definitely look into higher education and think about an academic career.

Yeah or an attitude of taking shrroms more often haha

No honestly i find it all really cool uk, and i hate school and learning because i feel it has no purpose other then the general purpose of meaningless education to meet up to social standards of going to college and working some bs job. Id be really interesting in studying thoughts and ideas like that but definately cant stand school...

anyway, imo, nothing can give emotions or state of emotions like nature do. (emotions = chemical reactions?) maybe...

I recently bought a plot with beach (no time or money to guitars :/ anymore). I aim to have summerhouse there someday (maybe i post pics sometime). We have nothing ready there and we slept in the tent there this summer. In nights, that silence there is even mystical, so relaxing.. think how I felt, in that silence I woke up into absolutely loud shrieking of swans... I knew its the sign, that sun is rising.. I went out, moment and sight after that... Its beyond words, beyond everything...

just a little story lol. Cheers!

This statement proved to me how young you really are... or at least I hope you are. What you don't see as that every person that has shared these thoughts with you (and trust me, what you're doing here are not new thoughts, they were probably written down over 100 years ago by a philosopher), has been a person of higher education.

School is important for you to push the boundaries of your limits. Why? I don't have a good answer for you. Some people say it's to make the God in the sky happy. Whatever it is that helps you push the envelop of innovation is important. I'm currently studying for my Ph.D in computer engineering. Would I have stayed in the system so long if i didn't trust it. The people that take their schooling and apply the information learned directly are the ones that don't see what our public education system is about.

School gives you the basics. It gives you the foundation so that you can do whatever you want. Take what you learn in school and apply it! Not directly... but indirectly to learn more. School is just a formal place to learn. You will learn in your bs job that you hold too. Does that make it completely wasted.

I know that school is good for you prepares you for life, etc. Doesnt mean i have to like it.

Honestly its because im not doing something i like to do. I couldnt care less who won a random war in europe 1000 years ago... At the music school i have a feeling i will like school because its doing what i love...

But yeah i know school is important and societally necessary to go, doesnt mean i have to like it though. I also dont like the control factor, i find in myself whenever im pushed to do something i always push back... so like school where im forced to go i will fight it, and hate being controlled... School is very controlling...

And yes im 16.

And honestly i dont think its true that i HATE school. Thats a really strong word, and not to go against what i said even though im not sure i said it in all truthfulness, I dislike the idea of going to a place and doing stuff i dont want to do, being forced to go there, for probably 8 out of the 12 months (thats including weekends, and vacations...) But i like the idea of sometimes learning new interesting stuff, seeing friends everyday, and now the opprotunity to enjoy school now that im going to a music school

He's a fricken LEGEND and if I wasn't lazy about maths I'd be doing astronomy right now and I'd be the one discovering that the sun has seasons... and that it creates black holes on it's surface that are larger than earth.

Philosophy is amazing and people who don't like it deserve to be punched in the baby maker.

School is great... if it wasn't for the teacher's opinions shoved down your throat... What I hate is that their opinion is law and if they don't like it they tell you to do something you don't like and problem after problem = you fail. -_- School was fun though, even though teachers sucked and I had a maths teacher who didn't speak english... it was and always will be; great memories.

What's funny is that you go to school when you don't want to, but when it comes to college and uni time - where most WANT to go, we have to lose a hell of a lot of money just to learn what we are actually interested in. It sucks balls my friends...

@ BBT,

You would love to live by the beach, huh?

Why don't you say you're GOING to live by the beach?

Make it happen man :) We only live once! ;)

I've never been to school, but from what I have seen and been told of it. Schools are good to get know some the base of things like spelling, math, knowing the histroy of from where your from and the laws of it. But when they push to know know stuff you'll never need to do in life. That makes no sense and a lot of schools are teaching theories, like the "Big Bing" theory, but they act like it is fact.
because some so called smart guy said it.

and college or uni. are good but when you spend all that money to go to it and later find out what you took in life for a life career are not even hiring so now they are working at some fastfood place and playing bills for going to college or uni.
and on that matter of fact, there are so many people out there who don't need to go to college or uni, because they already know how to do it and some time better then the people who did go, but they can't get a jog too because they don't have a paper saying they can do it.
Because jobs won't take you even if you show them you can do it?
now of day everyone acts like you have to go to school and college or uni to make it in life, but if you take a look back all of the great people from the past didn't go to school or college and they made the lightbulb?

If you ask me it just looks like a way to make money off of people for really doing nothing....but those are my thoughts and my alone.

I definitely agree with JustJeff here. I finished my masters in nuclear engineering about 5 years ago and that time spent in college were some of the best days of my life, both academically and socially.

The only advice I can give you about things you don't like EMB is that when you get pushed, instead of pushing back, just try to make the best of a bad situation. You are only as happy as you let yourself be.

Your a girl... Thats **ing... Awesome hahahaha

@Jazz its true, all my friends want to go to college... I think much of it is because we have a choice. And some is people wanna be free from their parents...

Id say the opinionated teachers are true and not treue... Of course theyre opinionated but it doesnt effect the test, but mainly the material taught and how they grade you personally, i had a teacher that didnt like my ideas and hated me for it and gave me the lowest possible on everything, i wound up i think with a c in the class...

Yeah one thing i learned just from my ideas, and awesome friends and cool parents is, You dont HAVE to do anything, at any moment you can do ANYTHING. Most of us have a daily routine... I know i do, before school started it was wake up, cycle, shower, Play guitar/ comupter/see friends, sleep... But were not stuck to it. We can do whatever we want! and that idea there is very very cool. And sometimes its fun to do things on a whim, as long as they dont get you killed... It gives sort of an excitement and unknowingness... Which i think is one of the coolest things in the world. The idea and mindset of doing something new and not knowing what to do, where to go, and Doing it and figuring it out on your own... Its very cool, I think thats why i do so many things, (GUitar, ski, cycle, golf, drum, sing, play trombone, travel random trips, play most sports) it gives me excitement and idea of doing something new... Im always looking for that...

Anyway the idea you can do ANYTHING at ANY TIME ANYWHERE (as long as its not like conjuring up wizards and taking over the world...) is quite interesting and liberating.. Its interesting what the human mind and body can do, and what it allows us to do.. Ever have that feeling... Man... I cant believe im doing this... I love that. Totally awesome sensation

ANYWAY hah if you acctually wanna live on a beach somewhere do it. You can, its not a silly thing to say, i find it silly when people with familys say, oh yeah im gonna go live here eventually, theyre not acctually gonna... But they can and its possible, but almost say it in a sense where they cant...

Personally i wanna go to either Berkelee or University of Vermont or Colorado (im not exactly too smart, im not a harvard or something like that and dont wanna be.) And my life and almost dream is to go to college experience it, hopefully form a band try to be big and tour, if something like that cant happen, and most likely wont, i will be quite happy living in vermont doing a job i love (ski teacher, or guitar teacher, while producing and other stuff on the side, i havent exactly figured it out im only 16) and live there... And you know what, its quite possible, and can happen, because i can do whatever i want, i control myself.

All these theories and ideas are quite interesting arnt they, i find theories like this so facinating... In about 5 minutes i can ruin my life... Or in about 5 minutes i can go swimming, or in 5 minutes i can go biking, or drive somewhere, or go take a plane, or go jump off a cliff, or destroy my guitar, or shoot myself, or shoot somebody... Not that id do that but point is were not locked into this fake "reality" because reality is what we make of it, not what it makes of us. Doing any of those things i mentioned may or may not change my life for ever and thats facinating and awesome... Think about at this moment that you are at right now in existance what can you do, the possibilities are endlessly brilliant and liberating. I can even run away from home, amazing when i think about it...

One thing i have thought about but dont like to talk about is the sensation andf experience and total clueless and knowledglessness of dieing. I think its cool, scarey facinating and intriging dont you? I really dont wanna discuss it because its quite depressing but If you dare, the thought that yours or mine or someone you know, their existance and influence will just stop on you and come to an end to a future that no one knows... Quite facination...

Are you home schooled? or just never did it? Thats very cool... And yeah i find that many colleges expecially with the depreciating effect on being a graduate (since theyres so many schools, and so many people get a college degree its dimishing its importance as compared to the 50s when not everyone went to college and it meant more...)

I have a friends dad who didnt go to college, and is living an awesomely happy life. College doesnt mean better future nessecarily... BUt it changes it, and grows you up in a sense, and the experience may indeed be worth it...

It depends what it is, If im being forced to do something that i feel i may not have to do (ex go to the mall with my mom for clothes i will push back and say no) but if im given the bad situation of having a flat tire on my bike with no replacement, a not too populated area with almost no bikers about 50 miles from home gives me a challenge and i learn to adapt... I cant just say, "no this isnt happening" hah...

As to EMB's original post, do you per say..like drugs?
Haha, I kid. xD

But for the schooling part of it, I'm on both sides really. Nobody particularly "likes" school I'd say, and if you do, good for you for finding enjoyment, but in today's society it makes a difference to have the education if you plan on living comfortably. That is if you aren't going to become a famous musician like all of us. (:

My dad keeps trying to get me to think of what I'd like to go to college for. I'm thinking something in the music field, like producing, engineering. Like, how to get different sounds, all the mixing stuff. I think it'd be useful to know. It's pretty obvious what my life goal is though. To make a living by PLAYING music. And I'm going to try like a mothe...very hard to achieve that goal. Mainly because it's that, the college thing and living a boring life producing people who DID succeed, or being a hobo. And the latter I don't quite look forward to.

2 cents, and to sense,
Ozz

how is it interesting?

That so many people think you have to go to school and college, just to be happy... When there is so much out there to do then learn but if learning makes you happy then I won't stop you, as long as you don't act I have to do it.. (I'm not talking about you I'm just saying)

I served a woman at work today and she said "you don't just study for exams... you study all the time anyway..." Or something along those lines... and it made me think... "Whaaaaat? I never did that at school...crazy woman!"
But ... I did, and still do, for music.
Yeah... it sucks, but it's there for a reason, and in this generation it's REALLY important to know these things. What they teach us in school is only the basics! Wait until you get to college and Uni where it starts slapping you in the face and letting you know what REAL education is!

School students get it easy - and there's no way to say that to them... they have to find out on their own, and by that time it's already too late. -_-

It is, my dad grew up very poor and if it wasnt for a scholarship to college his life would have changed greatly... I dont mean any offence to you that being poor is interesting, its just interesting to me to see the different kinds of lives people live and how they get there and what they started out like...

yeah i agree there, i find learning facisnating and at the same time totally boring and monotonous... Depending on whether im interested in it or not... But yeah i agree, people should be given a choice, not forced to do anything, and if learning and education isnt their thing and not what they wanna do they shouldnt be forced to do it.

Butit isn;t monotonous at all. Think about it. If you are just memorizing things, then yes, that's boring. If you're trying to understand the "why", then there is no way it monotonous. Don't just leatn A^2+B^2=C^2. Learn why that's true. It'll be less monotonous and actually you will retain more as well. (just an example, it is applicable to all aspects of learning)

Yep, and as i said it depends what im learning. Im taking the SATs this yeah, i have no intention to get a great score just to get into something like vermont... ANyway the studying for it i find really isnt knowing too much in what they teach you at school, but strategies to take the test, what questions to skip, how many i can skip, how much time i have, memorizing words that i will surley forget once its over... I find that boring and would rather be doing many other things than that, but i know for my future i need to do at least a little bit of studying even if im not gonna be a president or something....

Anyway back to the topic, what else you guys feel is totally awesome that some people may not realize...

@ Elliot
Do you know Elliot, some of the things you come out with are like a breath of fresh air. I'm at the wrong end of my 50's now and am just starting to see the truth of what you, at 16, are saying about cells within cells and worlds within worlds.
Back in the sixties when I was educated, schools mostly taught you the things society needed you to learn and left out the kind of philosophical arguments/discussions that we're enjoying on this and other threads.
How about taking this discussion a stage further and think about this:- "Nature creates life but in doing so it sows the seeds of its own destruction." Think in terms of cancer.

Science fascinates me. And no, you don't need to be high to suddenly find an interest in the sciences whether it be the universe, existentialism, or what have you. I wish I would have stayed in college longer than I did. I have a degree in Graphic Design, which I don’t use by the way. But the universe, the cosmos, physics, existentialism all fascinates me. I’ve learned more from the internet and TV shows on the History Chanel, Discovery, and NatGeo than I ever learned in school. Not because these resources are better than school but because they have been more readily available for me personally than school. If you can, go to school and do well whether you want to or not! You will be surprised in the long run what you will get from the experience no matter what!

Anyways, E=mc2 is the one that gets me. The theory that neither mass nor energy can be destroyed, but only moved or changed. That means the cells in your body, the keyboard in front of you are about 13 billion years old. The age of the universe! In a sense, according to science, we have existed in some form or another since the beginning of time and space! And will for a very, very, very, long time! I get a sort of peace out of that.

hmmm...

What is time and space?

Time is only what we've created due to the duration it takes for our planet to travel around the sun.

For Space... Theory shows that the "dust" that floats around in space comes together to create what is a new star - what some people would call "the big bang" ... But when stars die they leave behind the same dust, so it can eventually come back and create a new star all over again.

The question is: "What came first; The Chicken or The Egg?"

There's absolutely no way in hell we can ever ever ever proove how old space actually is... We simply jusge it's age due to our estimations of the stars around us.

After that was KFC.

I'm really quite interested in the Galaxy though, all the things that are HUGE compared our sun :D I'd also like to be the first cadaver shot into a black hole haha

The size differences put things more into perspective for how large our universe is, which always makes me feel extremely insignificant, but somehow makes me even more curious as to what is out there exactly, but not aliens or other life, I'm more about what else is there to see like the different planets and galaxies.
