hey everyone I dont think i will really be on tomorrow to wish everyone a proper thanksgiving so i thought i'd just make a topic and wish anyone who clicks on it a happy thanksgiving.

Just for fun why dont we all say what we're thankful for because that is what people do on thanksgiving right?

Me, Personally im thankful for good health and my family.

Note: saying what your thankful for might get you out of your comfort zone so not everyone has to say.

Whoa... lets leave the Nationalities out of this, the only thing that matters today, is the gigantic, amazing, delicious, savory, 20 lbs of Cheesecake >:) IT'S MINE I SAY.

Also Canadians have Bear Beer, so I think they win in that category, since who drinks beer made of bears? XD ha

Absolutely. Lidstrom is my all time favorite player. And Zetterberg is the man (his wife is smoking hot too). Holmstrom and Kronwall and Franzen. :o) I always kinda pull for Sweden second in hockey behind the US of course. Funny thing is, when the Wings were dominated by Russians, I never was able to pull for Russia. hahaha

You got me there. A little history lesson...

1926 - Detroit Cougars
1927 - First Stanley Cup - Ottawa Senators win
1930 - Detroit Cougars become Detroit Falcons
1930 - Pittsburgh Pirates become Philadelphia Quakers
1932 - Detroit Falcons become Detroit Red Wings
1936 - Philadelphia Quakers are no longer a team
1967 - Philadelphia Flyers

Red Wings got Flyers 11 - 2 in total Stanley Cup victories
Red Wings got Flyers 4 - 2 in Stanley Cup victories after Flyers inception (In other words, Red Wings won 7 of their cups before the Flyers were even a team)
Flyer got Red Wings 8 - 6 in conference championships
Red Wings got Flyers 18 - 15 in division championships
Red Wings won first cup fours years after inception
Flyers won first cup seven years after inception

Detroit and Philly play two different games, Detroit prefers finesse while Philly prefers grinding. Scoring goals, i.e. Detroit, wins games... Beating up the other team, however, does not. Hehe, Just a joke! The Flyers .576 winning percentage is the second best all time in the NHL. The Flyers also have the longest winning streak (35 wins) in not only NHL history but North American Sports history.

In my defense, the Detroit Red Wings have 35 years on the Philadelphia Flyers and neither team won a Stanley Cup before they became the teams we know today. Flyers missed the first cup by 40 years. The Red Wings... only 5.

Just some cool holiday trivia.

I am grateful for hockey, the greatest sport on the planet.

Rock on!

Yeah. We're not celebrating the slaughtering of Native Americans or anything like that. Where the day comes from historically is one thing. But today (yesterday) is simply a day of thanks.

Hope everyone had a good one!

Agreed. I really just get irritated when people bring that up about Thanksgiving. Columbus Day I understand wholly, but Thanksgiving is usually just a time of giving thanks for things like life, family, good health, and well being of people. Not the slaughter of an entire civilization. That is a very cynical way to look at it haha

Guitarslinger, I hope they both make it to the cup finals this year, that'd be pretty great!

Oh, and I got to go to Game 1 in 2008 when they beat Pittsburgh 4-0. One of my favorite sports memories ever. They had Mr. Hockey signing autos at the Joe too that day, and the ceremonial puck drop was a dual drop with Yzerman and Lemieux. It was really quite awesome.

I agree, I think they are both overdue. Detroit has a great team, they should be contenders every year. And, well the Flyers just owe it to Philadelphia hehe.

Rock on!
