Anyone have tips for tuning low, I'm talking Drop A#, B tuning, drop B and C tuning. Chevelle plays a lot at A#, I tune down that low and it still feels off. Do they use and octave dropper?

use thicker gauge strings, or you can but a pitch pedal that you can use to drop your guitar X amount of semi tones but it doesnt sound as natural

For tunings down around A, I would suggest maybe 11s if low tension strings bother you. I like loose strings, so I never go above 9s
don't forget to re-intonate

if you are just dropping your tuning without string/gauge change, you need to re-stretch your strings. Lower tuning means less tension, means your strings may come loose from your pegs. There is no problem with the pegs if it only de-tunes so much when droptuned.

I figured this out when I had to tune for audioslave's gasoline.

you should also to wrap as much string around the peg as possible.

thanks guys I did my homework and came up with the same things Domigan_Lefty and guitarmastergod where telling me, ya I just got a size ten strings and they are WILD brand I believe they are made for this sort of thing. I just need to keep things at low tunings for the time being so I don't lose the tension. I'll keep my acoustic/electric at standard.

Thanks again guys
