I'd like to learn a little bit of jazz guitar, I know its supposed to be really difficult but I'd still like to give it a try but i don't know where to start.

Start with 7th chords. Cmaj scale>> C,d,e,f,g,a,b.
Cmaj chord 1-3-5. cmaj7 1-3-5-7.
cmaj chord c,e,g cmaj 7 c,e,g,b
/That apllies to all major scales.

listen to jazz and get a fake book. this my sound like I'm being an ***, but its the most important. Also, by jazz I mean swing and bebop (namely monk). not fusion or anything like that (not that their not good or I Don't like them; it's just where you should start).

Learn your chords!!!

Take RA's advice for sure. Aside from the obvious necessary practice, books are a great way to understand a genre once you have the basics down.

Also, check out my easy lesson on chords... Chords Lesson .

G'luck.

After some of the basics look into things like voicing or chord voicing. Another great thing to try and wrap your head around is Polychords, its the idea of taking a large chord like a 13th and braking it down into simpler chords.

Listen to jazz. Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Lee Morgan, Wayne Shorter, Pat Martino, Charlie Christian, Wes Montgomery, Horace Silver, Charlie Parker. Get the real Book Volume 1. pick a song. learn the (Changes) chords. learn the melody. learn how to solo over the changes with arpeggios. autumn leaves is a good place to start.
