Hi all!
I've always been pursuing creativity in my music!
I've also read alot of tips on this subject.
I've been trying to harmonize my vocals with my notes being played and visa versa but doesn't seem to help me much with creativity.
But today I starting playing chord progressions and singing lead notes over it, on and off beat. Really helping me alot and I think it will help alot in the future.
Alot of people know this probly but i just put it out there for the beginners like me.
If anybody have some other great tips to share, that would be much appreciated!
Thanks again!

Trying out a different instrument always works, if I get stuck in a rut playing guitar I'll go play around on the piano and that will make me look at the melodies and chords/voicing's differently

Harmonizing isn't technically difficult, but it is a difficult thing to do. Backup singers have a crazy difficult job.

Have you gone through a lesson on building chords? You should. Understand what notes go in chords and why. One of the coolest things you can do is play a chord, then use your voice to make it a 7th chord. So try it.

Take a G major chord (G B D), then take your voice, and hum an F (This will be a dominant 7).Then resolve this by playing a C chord, and moving your voice either up a step to G, or down a half step to E.

So even though you're singing a note that is not there in the chord, you are giving it the illusion of something else.

Reindhart, there are no exercises you can do too to stimulate creativity. Its a natural thing, the more you try to be creative, the
more you block the natural creativity. Some of the exercises you suggested are for ear training. The best way to improve creativity
IS just do things that inspire you.Go on a hike
drink some tea,or whatever your love to drink, sit queitly
and think about past memories you cherish and hate. Most importantly
dont rush it,if a song is meant to be born from your mind
it will appear out of nowhere, not from force.
