i just received my birthday present from me, to me, for being such a good boy last year. a boss ME-70 multi effect pedal. it includes lots of pedal effects and includes a built in boss COSM amplifier modeling feature (which can be switched off).

the thing i'm a little unsure about is that when i hook it up to an amplifier, won't the amplifier itself also have some effect on the sound? basically what i'm doing is taking my guitar signal, processing it one, many, or no ways via the ME pedal, and then sending it into the amplifier.

i'm guessing that the cleanest clean channel with no gain and the EQ set in an even horizontal is the best way to let the pedal do the most work as far as tone creation goes?

obviously i don't want to use the drive/gain channel on the amp. right? (i'm aware that i COULD, but that i'd just be driving a channel that is already being distorted by the FX board)

so yeah this is my first pedal (and it's like 20 pedals in one) just looking for tips.

my amp is a simple, nameless (can't find a model anywhere on it) fender 1x12 low watt (again no name, no wattage info) amp with two channels and a 3-band EQ.

This is the way that works best for me. With the amp set flat the pedal does all the work.

i gotta say i am enjoying the pedal, the one thing i dislike about it... is that i actually prefer the distortion on the gain channel of the little cheapo fender amp to the effects on the OD/DS pedal of the multi-FX! granted, i haven't played through all of them yet. but they all seem kind of muddled... i'll have to experiment some more...

wont distortion over distortion make an aggrivating "fuzzy", crackle noise when your not playing?

i mean i like how Dist/Dist sounds when you play but the extra noise isnt worth it
