My dad found and bought a Hartke "piggyback" 4x8 "mini-stack" speaker cabinet with no head. It has a minimum impedance of 4 ohms.
I tried connecting my fender frontman 212R to it, but no sound is coming out. It has an output impedance of 4 ohms.

The wattage and impedance match, so why cant I get sound? I connected my multi fx directly to the cabinet and was able to get some (not loud) sound, so the cabinet works.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Honestly my guess is you have a bad cable or maybe the cab is not wired right.

You can test the speaker and cable by plugging them in with your normal 1/4 cord and taking a good 9v batter and touching the ends between the tip and the shaft.

You should be able to hear a click

Just a note not matching impedance can f-up your speakers pretty quick. but it sounds like your doing it right.

are you using the frontmans ext speaker or some other way?

It has a "Pre-out" output that im using. No speaker-out output.
The 9volt makes a click at a normal volume. (with just cable to input)

Make sure you using a head to cab cord...using a guitar cord will cause your head to work to hard and mess it up...hard to say Dom sounds like your doing it right like tele said...

You will need to use the ext speaker. the pre-out sounds more like a an effects loop and does not have any juice to push you speaker.

If you can post some picks i can double check that or i can post some picks of my amps if that would help

There is no separate ext speaker.
The manual says the pre out doubles as fx loop and ext speaker.
There are no plugs on the back, only power and reverb
