Do you practice standing up or sitting down? I always sit while I played, I don't even own a strap. I gave my little brother one of my guitars and my small amp so he bought a strap. I tried it out the other day and it was completely different. After a couple of days I got used to it and I love it. Seems like you can get into playing a lot more if your up moving around. I think it gives playing a more expressive feel, to me that's what it all about.

I sit down when i play. but i also am really tall and find it hard to find a strap that makes the guitar feel right. I also play my acoustic more lately and i have never had a strap for it.

but your right about playing when standing up it's definitely different.

Yea i think it's easier to learn stuff while sitting down cause it eliminates alot of motor skills useage...i think the guitar sits in my hands better sitting down than standing up...
I'm learning Yngwie Malmsteen "I am a Viking" right now...it's killing me...I wanteed something challenging i think i got something to challenging...I have the skills of a 2 year player eventhough I've been playing for 1.5 years now any one have some good challenging songs for right around that difficulty? Yngwie might have bested me here...

Thats definitly good idea I'm pretty sure no one would wan to go to a rock concert and find the guitarist sitting on a chair while the rest of the band rocks out...

it's definitely a different thing to stand up but I like to play standing looking in a mirror, though like telecrater I'm pretty tall and the strap is very difficult to adjust

Depends on what I'm doing.

If I'm playing guitar, I'll sit. If I'm singing, I'll stand.

Learning or doing a improv I sit down, unless it's on a bass I do everything standing with a bass as I get more into the music playing a bass.
I don't stand up much with a guitar because it is hard to get comfortable also I don't have strap locks so the strap pops off alot -.-

The only time I stand up to play is when I'm tempted to join/start a band. I stand up in front of a full length mirror with my guitar, take a long hard look at myself and then wait for common sense to prevail!
Some things are better left to the imagination I guess!

I've been to one, the guitarist had broken his leg a few weeks before so he had to settle with sitting down playing an acoustic. They were a pretty decent local band.

I nearly always stand up to practice, except for when im warming up or learning something new.

I also sit and stand when playing guitar. I usually stand for improvised solos because they just sound better.
